The beautiful Croatian coastline offers thousands of islands to explore, from the uninhabited to the car-free, so where do you start? We’ve picked out our top four favourites to help you plan an extra special yacht charter.

Lastovo

If you want to experience one of Croatia’s most remote, uninhabited islands then head to one of the most southerly Dalmatian islands, Lastovo. It’s worth the sail, if you’re looking to get away from it all and find total peace and tranquility. Skrivena Luka provides a great anchorage in a hidden bay, which can’t be seen from the sea. If you want to add even more romance, then book an overnight stay in the nearby lighthouse – it’s one of the oldest in the Adriatic.

Biševo

It’s a mistake to make this a brief trip just to see the island’s famous glowing blue caves, which are created by the sunlight hitting the sea. To get the full experience, explore Biševo after your cave visit. You’ll find a lesser known, yet fantastic beach and safe anchorage. You’ll also have the chance to explore the ruins of a church and monastery founded in 1050.

Drvenik Mali

Just 10 nautical miles from Trogir, this island is rarely visited and has a population of around 80 people. It boasts a picturesque spot for lunch at Vela Rina Bay with beautiful beaches and clear seas without the noise of daytrippers. It’s also good for a spot of fishing.

Mali Lavasa

Avoid the crowds in peak season and find Mali Lavasa, which is north towards Kornati National Park. It has beautiful bays and a great anchorage, as long as the wind isn’t blowing north easterly.
