If you are looking to sail in the Cyclades and/or the Saronic, Lavrion is perfectly positioned to explore both sailing grounds. Getting to Lavrion is straightforward – from Athens airport it is around 30 minutes by taxi. The same distance as getting to Athens marina. Lavrion is a quiet town, and has good variety of bars and Restaurants, and local shops make it easy to provision.

Myrtos beach and blue sea, Kefalonia island, Greece

Proximity to islands – Kea is the closest island and only 16 NM from Lavrion, so you don’t have to deal with a long passage on your first day of sailing (unless you want to of course!) and the popular Cape Sounion is only 10 minutes by taxi from the base where you can enjoy the famous tourist spot and unforgettable sunset over the Aegean Sea from the ruins.

The meltemi blows from the North and can make for quite challenging sailing in the Cyclades, so starting from Lavrion also means you have the possibility to change your itinerary at the last minute depending on the weather forecast.
