Sailing conditions

Temperatures in Martinique remain around 30°C all year with short tropical rain showers. The Windward Islands provide exciting sailing with the opportunity for some longer passages between the islands (7-10 hours). In the winter months the wind blows from the northeast and in the summer from the southeast, averaging 10-25 knots. Night sailing is not recommended in the Grenadines, due to the presence of numerous coral reefs and shoals, rarely illuminated, and only allowed under certain conditions.

Sea conditions in the lee of the island are relatively calm but the waters between islands are exposed and can have a bit of a swell.

Getting there

There are scheduled flights from the UK via Paris to Martinque, or fly from the UK to Antigua and
take a LIAT inter-island flight.
