Supporting the RNLI’s Mayday campaign

Saving lives off the coast

22nd May 2018

As a company helping people like you sail the seas and enjoy life on the water, we know how important it is to have a service that protects people enjoying the coast. It’s even more impressive when the service relies largely on volunteers giving up their free time to protect life. This is why we support the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, RNLI, the charity that saves lives at sea in the UK, Ireland the Channel Islands. One of the Latesail team is in the final stages of joining the crew at Gravesend, which will fulfil a long standing ambition.

RNLI lifeboat fleets, volunteer crews and lifeguards provide a 24-hour rescue service, saving more than 142,000 lives since it was established in 1824. This month the charity is running Mayday, a yellow-themed annual fundraiser that asks people to “Do their bit and fund our kit” between 1 and 31 May.

Our donation pledge

The charity aims to raise £750,000 during its Mayday campaign to fund a kit upgrade, supplied by Helly Hansen. This kit is vital to keep volunteer crews safe during very cold temperatures faced during rescues.

To help, we will match every £1 donated by customers booking with us during May, June and July. These donations will help the RNLI provide practical help to those enjoying the water every single day.
