1. Soggy Dollar Bar, Jost Van Dyke
Arguably the most famous beach bar on our list, Soggy Dollar Bar needs no introduction. Voted as the Best Caribbean Beach Bar in the USA Today Reader’s Choice 2020, this BVI institution is a must-visit on a British Virgin Islands sailboat charter.
Most visitors jump off their boat and swim ashore – hence the name of the bar!
Soak up the vibe on the pristine sands of White Bay while enjoying a classic Painkiller cocktail – made with dark rum, coconut, orange juice, pineapple and a dash of grated nutmeg.
Stay into the small hours and join the energetic weekend parties at this bustling beach bar. Every Sunday there is a beach bbq accompanied by tunes from DJ Terro.

2. Foxy’s, Jost Van Dyke
A colorful bar popular with American sports fans, Foxy’s is located east of White Bay, just around the headland in Great Harbour.
Popular with sailors for more than 50 years since it first opened in 1968, Foxy’s has a fun atmosphere with a great cocktail menu and good food, including a beach bbq buffet served on Friday and Saturday nights.
You’ll be greeted with a warm welcome at Foxy’s which has a truly international feel with hundreds of sports team and country flags draped from the ceiling. Grab a beer, put your feet up and watch the world go by at Foxy’s.
3. Willy T’s, Bight Bay, Norman Island
You can’t go to the British Virgin Islands on a sailboat vacation without paying at least one visit to the Willy T.
Named after Capitol architect William Thornton, it’s a legendary floating bar and restaurant which has been an all-day party hub for visitors to the BVI for more than 35 years.
You’ll find it moored in The Bight at Norman Island, and the only way to access it is by taking your dinghy over and tying up alongside.
The Willy T serves family-friendly food and drinks in the day and turns into a true party boat at night. Join the raucous revellers diving from the poop deck into the blue waters below.
It has a bar which opens out onto a west-facing lounge deck, complete with comfortable sofas where you can take some time to relax away from your boat and watch the stunning Caribbean sunset.
At the resort you’ll find Cooper’s Rum Bar – home to the largest selection of rums in the Virgin Islands! Or try one of the six varieties of craft beer available on tap from the Cooper Island Brewing Co. There is a daily happy hour running from 4pm to 6pm with 2 for 1 specials.
A nice bonus of visiting Cooper’s is being able to support the owners’ commitment to sustainable tourism. If you want to eat at the exceptional restaurant, make sure you book in advance.
5. Hendo’s Hideout, Jost Van Dyke
Pay a visit to Soggy Dollar Bar’s lesser-known neighbor, Hendo’s Hideout when you visit Jost Van Dyke on your bareboat vacation in the BVI.
The fantastic hospitality of the staff welcomes you at this bar and restaurant that’s a little more chilled than its famous neighbor.
Lie down on one of the striking orange deckchairs and gaze out over the azure blue water while you sip on one of the many cocktails.
The food served here is highly rated and it’s no wonder why. Dine on delicious seafood including conch fritters, lobsterm, grilled mahi, shrimp and ceviche. Or try fresh salad, sandwiches, burgers or pasta. You can even have sushi on a Thursday if you pre-order it.
6. Pirate’s Bight, Norman Island
Land upon the shore of Norman Island – a place long associated with tales of 18th century pirates and treasure hunters – to find bar and restaurant, Pirates Bight.
The bright blue building is home to a large bar and restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner from 11am to 9pm and serves up tasty tacos, nachos and seafood fritters. There is also a daily happy hour from 4pm to 6pm.
You can even explore the 2.5 mile long island from the trail that runs behind the restaurant, or take your boat to one of the many coves and caves that line the shores of Norman Island. You never know, you might just find some hidden treasure.
7. Wonky Dog, Anegada
Colorful eatery Wonky Dog stands out on your approach to the shore at beautiful Anegada.
If you take a bareboat charter from Tortola, Anegada lies just over 25 miles to the north east.
Reserve one of their mooring balls for $30 a night, head over to the dinghy dock and enjoy the atmosphere at this popular bar and restaurant.
Try fresh Anegada lobster cooked in a variety of ways, followed by desserts like key lime pie. Party the night away at this lively place which has nightly fire breathing shows and steel pans on Tuesdays. Be sure to make a reservation and place your lobster order in advance.
8. Myetts Restaurant & Bar, Tortola
Witness spectacular sunsets while surrounded by lush tropical gardens at Myett’s, on Tortola.

9. Paradise Club, Tortola
The Instagram-famous ‘I heart BVI’ sign resides on the beach at the Paradise Club Lounge, Bar and Restaurant in Cane Garden Bay on the north west coast of Tortola.
You can also get a photo worthy for social media on one of the swing seats that line the bar.
Dance the night away at one of the Saturday night beach parties, where there are live DJs and plenty of revellers ready to have a good time. If steel pan music is more your thing, listen to it on a Tuesday night from 5pm to 7pm.
Or just relax on the white sand and look out over the sweeping beach of Cane Garden Bay.
B-Line is a tiny beach bar situated on the south coast of Little Jost Van Dyke. It’s quieter than all of the other bars, but it certainly has a welcoming feel and a low-key rustic vibe.
Add a stop as part of your visit to Jost Van Dyke – pick up a mooring ball in front and swim or take a dinghy ashore. B-Line serves lunch until 5pm and the menu features dishes such as burgers and chips.
